Birds across continents use an almost identical alarm call to warn of brood parasites such as cuckoos that lay eggs in their nests, study stated. Researchers studied over 20 bird species from Australia, Africa, and Asia, and found that despite being unrelated, they produce same short, harsh notes to signal danger. The call is both innate and learned, researchers say.
