A bill has been introduced in California's Senate to outlaw caste-based discrimination, which if passed, would make the state the first in the US to ban discrimination on such grounds. The bill was introduced by Aisha Wahab, the first Muslim and Afghan American elected to the state legislature. Notably, Seattle recently became the first US city to ban caste discrimination.
