The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has announced that it will now issue summons embedded with a QR code and a unique passcode. With this, individuals can authenticate these system-generated summons. The move aims to tackle the growing menace of fake summons being circulated by fraudsters and digital scammers impersonating as ED officers, and prevent people from falling prey to "digital arrests".
