Gastroenterologist Dr Pal Manickam shared non-vegetarian, low-calorie protein sources that aid weight loss and muscle growth. He highlighted white fish like tilapia, codfish, pomfret, and mackerel for their omega-3 content, and shrimp and prawns for their selenium benefits. Egg whites and chicken breast, he said, are the leanest options, while calorie-dense drumsticks and wings are best avoided.
