Mahishasura Mardini is a widely popular early Bengali special dawn radio programme that has been broadcasting since 1931 on All India Radio (AIR), making it India's longest-running radio programme. The 90-minute musical recited by radio broadcaster and playwright, the late Birendra Krishna Bhadra, has been broadcast every year on Mahalaya, marking the beginning of Durga Puja festivities.
