The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai busted a major drug syndicate, arresting its kingpin Danish Merchant, alias "Danish Chikna", his wife Henna Bharat Shah, and two associates. Merchant, reportedly a close aide of Dawood Ibrahim, was tracked with his wife to a luxury resort in Goa and arrested after sustained surveillance. Officials seized 1.341 kg of Mephedrone.
