OpenAI is working on a new large language model, codenamed 'Garlic', The Information reported. The model is being developed as a competitor to Google's Gemini 3 and Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.5, which currently lead in reasoning and programming. CEO Sam Altman earlier declared "code red" in the firm to improve ChatGPT and reclaim OpenAI's position in the AI race.
