The Government Middle School (GMS) in Panipat has been operating without its own building for the past 69 years, forcing generations of children to study under a makeshift shed since 1956. At present, 185 students, from Class 1 to Class 8, continue to brave scorching summers, heavy monsoons and biting winters, with little more than floor mats to sit on.
