Scientists have measured completely speed and direction of newborn black hole's recoil, formed through merger of two others, for first time. Published in Nature Astronomy, the study found that gravitational waves (GWs) from merger caused new black hole to recoil at 50 km/s, enough to expel it from globular cluster, and determined its recoil direction with respect to Earth.
