A study has suggested that Silverpit crater, located 700 metres beneath North Sea seabed near UK, was most likely formed over 43 million years ago by asteroid or comet roughly the size of York Minster church striking Earth. Researchers said the 160-metre-wide asteroid had crashed into the sea, causing 100-metre-high tsunami. The crater was discovered by petroleum geoscientists in 2002.
