Parasocial relationship is a one-sided connection between a person and a media figure, such as celebrity or fictional character, where the media figure is unaware of the other person's existence. Parasocial relationships tend to occur because of our natural tendency to link to others, according to Harvard Health. They come with risks and benefits, Harvard professor Arthur C Brooks said.
