Some restaurants display 'fully booked' board despite having empty tables to ensure that staff members give adequate attention to each guest and maintain a certain ambience, a Pune hotel chef said. "At times, an empty table you spot might be reserved for later seatings, or intentionally left vacant to give each guest a sense of comfort...and privacy," he stated.
