During the Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit in Gujarat in 2022, PM Modi gave this Gujarati name to the WHO chief at the latter's request. PM Modi explained he chose to name him after medicinal plant Tulsi, which is integral to India's spiritual heritage.
